Ecole Centrale de Nantes (ECN)
Ecole Centrale de Nantes is a research and education institution. Main fields of interest and competence are: Engineering of Industrial Systems / Automatic control/ Computer Sciences / Product Design and Manufacturing / Fluid Mechanics, Energetics and Oceanic Engineering / Mechanics, Materials and Civil Engineering / Social sciences: Communication, Foreign Languages and Corporate Culture Department. A team of IRCCyN laboratory (Research Institute on Communication and Cybernetics of Nantes) will be involved with FoFdation. The IRCCyN laboratory is a JRU (Joint Research Unit – UMR 6597) and its legal representative are Ecole Centrale de Nantes (ECN), the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Université de Nantes (UN) and Ecole des Mines de Nantes (EMN). Its research focus is to define, develop, simulate and then optimize the whole manufacturing process of mechanical parts within a product/process framework. To achieve this goal, advanced programming approaches are proposed, optimized and validated, based on the development of concept and on experimental studies on industrial manufacturing equipments (HSM machines tools, parallel kinematics machines, clad machine,).
Role in the AMOS Project
ECN has developed a strong expertise in the field of CNC programming of machine tools: tool path generation, parameterization and optimization, NC controllers, process simulation. The lab at ECN is equipped with industrial-scale machines tools to test and demonstrate research outputs on various manufacturing processes: High Speed Machining, Incremental Sheet Forming, Additive Manufacturing and multi-process manufacturing. ECN are involved in the CNC control of DED technologies.
